McDowell was indicted in October on three counts of pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor and eight counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor, according to a grand jury report.

The Vandalia Police Division began investigating McDowell following a referral from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force that he had child sexual abuse material on his cloud, according to the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office.

Police served a search warrant and found multiple images and videos of minors, none of whom are believed to be local children, the prosecutor’s office said.

McDowell also was designated a Tier II sexual offender, which will require him to register his address every 180 days for 25 years with his local sheriff’s office, once he is released.
